Ashes in Glass Marbles
There’s something timeless about glass marbles. Back in the old glass factories, it’s believed glassblowers would finish long days of hand-crafting windows and bottles by gathering up the leftover bits of glass and shaping these scraps into perfect little spheres to take home to their children. They were called “end of day” marbles—tiny treasures born from a parent’s love.
Today, I carry on the marble making tradition with borosilicate glass and modern equipment. Each handmade glass marble that I design is a tiny universe unto itself, unique as the moment it was created.
I’ve found an even deeper purpose by incorporating cremated remains into these glass spheres. Memorial Marbles with cremains helps family and friends hold onto memories in a tangible way that can be passed down through generations.
